Rehearsal for an emergency situation.

You really need to think beyond just your employer’s emergency preparedness plan.  You should determine which types of emergencies are most likely to effect you and your family.  Consider medical emergencies, utility disruptions, terrorism, building lock downs, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, etc…

You really need to make a plan for each emergency and then review your communication scenarios.  Being prepared depends on what your family needs in order to be comfortable and secure in the middle of an emergency situation.

Once you have made your ititial plan and gathered your emergency gear; do your rehearsal; and then review your plan and supplies every six months.  As you keep bringing up your plan, in six months, you’ll be amazed at the improvement you’ll be able to make in your plan.  Emergency forms, list, and resources.
